In this 2.5-hour module, we will construct together simple balance sheets while at the same time looking at real life balance sheets of companies listed on a stock exchange. We will search for information that warns us of the health issues of a company. The entire module is case study based and practical.
Course content
- Fully understand what a balance sheet is, what it is made up of and how to look for items you need for information
- The significance of the accounting equation
- How assets and liabilities are valued and what this value means to the reader whether investor, lender, owner or other stakeholder
- Fully understand the meaning of Working Capital and how to obtain it and interpret it
- Searching for information in published Balance Sheets including information in the notes of the Financial Statements
- Make preliminary analysis of the health of the company using only the Balance Sheet. Or can we?
- Lots of practice questions with full explanations and an extra case study to work on at the end of the course
